An electric assistance bike must be complying has to comply with the french legislation and at the European norm (EN 14 764 for the bike part - EN 15 194 for electric assistance bike).

This is the case of VELEIX EAPCS, as the CRITT report certified.

If you want an EAPCS to be likened as a standard bike, it must respects 3 main principles:

  • an electric assistance which is limited at the power of 250 watt
  • an assistance only linked at pedaled
  • a progressive cur of assistance, when the velocity reach 25 km/h or when the cyclist brakes or stop to pedaling.

Every bike which is sold in France must reply at the N° 95 937 decree, dated on the 24 august 1995. This decree is concerning prevention of bicycle utilization.

The validation of the EAPCS conformity at the EN 15 194 norm, can be made by 5 laboratories.

In this laboratory many tests are realized in order to confirm the EAPCS conformity at the EN 14 764 and EN 15 194 norm.

The electric components of the VELEIX EAPCS reply to the ROHS directive. (Restricted of Hazardous Substances) dated on July 2006. This aim is to limit the utilization of some dangerous substances in electric and electronic equipment.

Moreover the Low-voltage electrical equipment must reply to the “Nouvelle Approche” (“new approach”) directive (2006/95/CE) dated on the 12 December 2006. The electronic compatibility must reply to the “Nouvelle Approche” directive (2004/108/CE) dated on the 15 December 2004.

Every EAPCS component replies to this directive, as the CE marking certifies it.

Every bike sold in France must be tested according to the applicable rules, in order to guarantee the security of the user.

A bike is a mean of transportation which goes on the road. Therefore it must reply to the security norm. Everybody must not forget to respect the traffic law, as quite other vehicles.

The bike used, must reply to the norm, lighting must reply to the traffic law disposition. The helmet wearing is not obligatory, but it is well advised for security reasons.
