What is an EAPCS ?

It is an electrically assisted pedal cycle.

An EAPCS is before everything a bike which has a battery and a motor. Their first aim is to escort the rider in this effort. It can climb up slope which can reach until 12% gradient, without effort.

It consists in an assistance and not in a propulsion!

Generally the batteries are portable and reloaded on the main current. Regulated in France and Europe, the EAPCS, remain the own vehicule with motor which is a freedom symbole.

As a classic bike, the safty hemlet is not obligatory (but it is well advised), no specific assurance, or license plate, and it can use the bicycle lanes.

EAPCS HISTORICAL:

In Japan :

Even if the dream of the “electric bike” is also older than the first moped, the first attempt goes back to 20 years ago. The first form of electric industrial electric bike is born in Japan in 1993.

In China :

Around 1997/1998, China, the bike’s country, is also launch in the electric bike industry. Confidential during 3-4 years, the market had explosed in 2002.
In 2003 it’s above 1 500 000 electric bikes which have been sold in China, by some 140 different manufacturers.
Chinese users having not the same demand than the Japanese ones, they created a new style of electric bike.

EAPCS description :

The VELEIX maintenance bike is easy. Every piece of the cycle part is as standard bike piece. Also they are of quality. For the material choice, aluminium is used in majority for accessories and inox for fastening. This assures a very good guaranty against oxide formation.

As regards the electric part, the choice has been made in function of :

quality/price ratio

On our models, the motor is on the back wheel. The EMC 102 had a motor without gears, which makes it possible to have a quasi absence of noise, whereas other models had last generation motors with gears (brushless). The electronic control is made to measure with the first choice constituent. This part is the system heart. The motor energy alimentation is generated in function of different factor as :

fastness
distance wished by the user.

One the new models, it exists 3 assistances positions (or electronic fast) with one to climb up slopes.

ADVANTAGES :

It is robust with an approved technology.
It is also insensible in the “memory effect”.
It is economic and it requires no usage precaution. Indeed with a public price around 140 € this accepts 350 reloads or 15 000 km with a Veleix bike. This battery is easily recycling.
